Effective communication is an essential skill in the practice of health and social care, because it helps to create caring, trusting, and practical relationships with the individuals being cared for, their families, and co-workers. Being able to communicate effectively means that workers in health and social care are more able to develop their knowledge about the people they care for, and so put the principles of person-centered care into practice. This course aims to ensure that the learner understands why effective communication is important, what skills are required to facilitate it, and how to remove barriers.
